this page was last updated 1-24-07CURIOSITY...I just wonder... for those who aren't ADHA/KDHA/DCDHA members... why not?Not to "rag" on anyone or give you a big "sales pitch" - we're just curious as to how we can help you, what you might be looking for as far as information dissemination, CE, lobby issues, etc. Drop an email to be heard! We're having a DoCoDHA council meeting soon and would like to invite you to share you opinions! You can reach us at douglascountydha@yahoo.com CAREER INSURANCEWHAT IS CAREER INSURANCE WORTH? A good health insurance policy might cost a healthy young adult $2,000 per year, or a family of four up to $8-10,000 - or even more. Depending on your driving record, car insurance might cost $500 per year or more. And most families purchase life insurance to protect against the loss of a parent or bread-winner. Most of us wouldn't consider going without health insurance, car insurance or life insurance, even though we hope to not "need" it. Given that your RDH license is the means that you pay for necessary personal and family insurance, how do you ensure the value of your license? How much is career insurance worth? The American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) and its Kansas Constituent (KDHA) are the only organizations focused exclusively on protecting and enhancing the value of your Kansas RDH license. The ADHA Mission Statement commits the association to "...promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, practice and research and representing and promoting the interests of dental hygienists." KDHA performs that Mission at the state level. So, what is career insurance worth? Your membership in ADHA, Constituent (KDHA), local Component (DoCoDHA) and the Legislative Assessment (to help pay for a lobbyist in the Kansas Statehouse) totals $250 per year. Compared to the cost of the other insurance in your life, the cost of career insurance looks pretty reasonable - roughly one day's pay for a KS RDH. The value of membership in your professional association comes not only from the many services provided at the national, state and local levels, but also from the size of its membership. The larger and more active the KDHA membership is, the greater your voice in the Kansas Statehouse and Congress and the more services that can be provided. Membership in the ADHA/KDHA/DoCoDHA is your only investment for career insurance and your best insurance value. membership - benefitsThe total fee is $250 a year and is allocated as follows: ADHA-$155, Constituent (KDHA) $55, Component (DoCoDHA) $10, Legislative Assessment (to help with lobbyist fees/administrative costs) $30. Our component number is Douglas County-05.
We (DoCoDHA) meet together several times a year for continuing education. See our MEETINGS page for our schedule http://www.docodha.org/meetings200607.htm. IF YOU ARE A REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST AND ARE NOT A MEMBER OF ADHA YOU CAN CONTACT THEM FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO JOIN AT www.adha.org. |
